Elon Musk is finished. Broken, defeated. He thought he was still the bread, but now he’s toast. He spent about $20 million on the Wisconsin Supreme Court race. That’s right, $20 million. And he just got crushed. It wasn’t even close. And this race, by his own words, was one of the most important races in terms of the 2026 midterms as well as the Republican agenda in the state.
Financially, this was not an even race. Musk outspent every single major donor by a radical margin. They had the ads, the million-dollar checks, the PACs, the GOP operatives, they had almost everything to win. Everything, but a soul. Wisconsin is not for sale, America is not for sale. Musk may have gotten away with bankrolling Trump in the last election, but he just learned a lesson here, he won’t get away with it all the time.
Those are $20 million thrown in the trash can. $20 million. It seems too easy now that it’s all set and done, but this was a killer of an election. And sure, Democrats had momentum with a deeply unpopular Musk, a chaotic DOGE and a White House that is growing more and more unpopular as well, but still, money is money. And while the GOP machine has always been backed my megadonors and shady elites, Musk is just an entire different level of money.
And it was a blowout. A total blowout. That’s 10 points. 10 points in a key swing state that went for Trump not long ago. It’s a reckoning. Millions of Americans saw what we all saw, the greed, the desperation, the fearmonger, and we got to work. All of us. Digitally, DemsMight did its part, we launched 2 digital ads, reached millions of users in the last two weeks with anti-Musk messaging, and directed thousands of followers and other users to volunteer. But ultimately, the people who got out to knock on doors, those who donated, and those who made calls, made the biggest difference.
Together, we’re a force to be reckoned with. And this is not where it ends. Moving forward, we need to continue to be strategic, communicate with each other and other voters effectively, and put in the hours. Hard work pays off. That’s the path forward.
Without focusing too much on special elections, it’s important to note this was the one race Musk cared about the most. And now, he goes back to his burning businesses. At least that’s what is already rumored, he’s done. Elon has made Republicans deeply unpopular in a short period of time, making working-class Americans feel completely out of touch with the Musk-backed GOP.
And it’s not just in elections. Tesla sales continue to tank worldwide, returns for Tesla vehicles are up, and anti-Musk/DOGE nationwide protests continue on a weekly basis. He’s rapidly becoming one of the most hated individuals in the world, and even he admits he’s received endless death threats. We of course don’t support that type of behavior, but it goes to show you that the hate for Musk is deep. Concerning.
All in all, it just doesn’t make sense for Elon Musk to stick around anymore. He’s failed catastrophically. Federal courts have done their job in checking some of his power, with SCOTUS making a firm stand, showing that they won’t just empower DOGE recklessly. And while it’s important to note that it was a very small majority of Supreme Court justices that showed a backbone, that still happened.
DOGE is not just unpopular, it’s Elon Musk. He’s seen as a dark, a shady billionaire controlling the White House, with Trump as his puppet. But DOGE has also been ineffective, according to an NPR analysis, the total estimated “savings” from the initial DOGE list of just over 500 contracts cancelled is $2 billion. DOGE released data about federal contract savings. It doesn't add up. And that’s including cuts to the Department of Education, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, and the US Agency for International Development.
Even if we take DOGE’s claim that they’ve cut a lot more in spending. What have they proven? Nothing. They have yet to provide any solid piece of fraud, or even unnecessary spending, as some of the cuts have come from pretty important agencies and job positions. It’s a circus.
At this point, it might even be beneficial for Democrats that Musk sticks around. While dangerous for the country of course, he’s just so unpopular and destructive, that Democrats will likely continue to outperform and win critical races next year. But it just seems like Trump (as much as he loves Elon’s money) just wants him out sooner than later.
Last night in Madison Wisconsin,a photographer approached a man who recently loss twenty million dollars. The photographer asked him for a snapshot and as he focused his lens to take the picture he had to say it. "Smile and say Cheese."
Thank you, to the Carr Family Cheese Company for my delicious Wisconsin Butter Kasse.
