It's Getting Ugly for Trump

Things are getting ugly for Trump.

Things are getting ugly for the old man. Elon Musk is leaving, the courts keep handing him losses, Putin continues to ignore him and humiliate him publicly, the chaos in Gaza is ongoing, all while the US economy continues to be shaky, with the value of the dollar dropping, Moody’s downgrading the US credit rating, with prices still too high.

This is not what Donald Trump promised. During his campaign, he promised over and over again to end the Ukraine-Russia war on ‘day 1’ — in some instances, even saying he’d end the conflict as president-elect. Regarding the Israel-Palestine conflict, Trump also promised his Muslim supporters and others that he’d end that conflict briefly. Well, it’s been almost five months. And things are not looking pretty.

But that’s not the only front where Trump is losing. No, when it comes to his economic agenda (tariffs) — the one thing he’s promised endlessly and wanted to implemented for decades now (even far before he became directly involved with politics) he’s failing too. It’s a clown show. He’s backed down over and over again on his original approach (aggressive, insane tariffs) as a result of the market reacting and the immense backlash, even from some of his loudest supporters.

Trump said he had a plan. He promised a “golden age,” to make America “great again.” So far he’s underdelivered (even by the standard of some of his own supporters) and done more harm than good. Federal courts and the Supreme Court keep checking his power, and checking it hard, blocking some of his most aggressive executive actions, ordering Trump officials’ depositions, and rallying together when he disobeys.

And now with Elon Musk not just leaving his administration, but openly criticizing his new spending bill, and even his tariffs, Trump has been left exposed yet again. Remember, a faction of his MAGA base truly did want to cut “wasteful” spending. They believed in Musk, in DOGE, in government corruption and the urgent need to cut away social programs, benefits, and entire federal agencies. Many of them even wanted to just destroy the federal government in its entirety. Those folks aren’t happy. To them, Trump has just solidified himself as the swamp.
